As the sun beams rose above the horizon, Annabeth’s high heel clad foot pounded on the sidewalk. In fact, Annabeth hardly noticed the rising sun as she rushed to work. It wasn’t usual for Annabeth to be in a rush for work but it was unusual for her to be trying to get to work at this hour. A scheduling mistake left Annabeth rushing for a 7:30 appointment.
It was at that moment that Annabeth’s stomach growled reminding her that she forgot to eat breakfast this morning. She glanced at her watch, it read 7:02. She had time to pop into Alice’s and order some breakfast.
Alice greeted Annabeth with a smile and handed her a menu as she walked in. Deciding that sitting at the booth by herself would look depressing, Annabeth settled at the counter-top that wrapped around the kitchen. The smells that floated from the kitchen were enough to make her want to order everything off the menu. A voice in the back of her mind reminded her of all the hard work she put into losing weight in high school and there was no good reason for her give in now. But the smells wafted through again and the voice flew away as the only thought in Annabeth’s mind was food. She had to get food and it had to be right then.
When Alice came over to take her order, Annabeth started with the largest thing on the menu, the 10’’ stack of pancakes. And she didn’t stop there. There was nothing on her mind except eating. Looking back, it was an odd feeling for Annabeth, she was always so good at being in control of everything. Even her own feelings but that day was a new experience for her.
That day Annabeth spent the first half the day at Alice’s eating the entire menu. The doctor’s office called her around noon where she promptly told them she wasn’t feeling well and then went back to her to empty her refrigerator.
