The day started with the sound of pouring rain on the window. Annabeth clumsily made her way to her window, still half asleep she peered out of her window only to seen nothing. She squinted her eyes trying to get a better look at the world outside her apartment. Still, she couldn’t see a thing, it was raining too hard. This was one of the things Annabeth needed to get used too, the constant rain. She had just moved from the sunny place that was always filled with bright colors to a rainy town that was never any color but gray.
Annabeth turned the doorknob, it hit the tile floors with the loud clanging sound. Annabeth jumped and sighed under her breath. Every time she tried to leave her apartment, the doorknob fell off. She was mad at herself for still getting startled, she had been living here for two months now, she should be used to it. She hastily put the doorknob back into place and left her apartment. In the back of her head, she reminded herself to find the maintenance man, Victor Marx, to get her doorknob fixed.
Annabeth made her way to the parking deck, it wasn't the closest exit but she was still getting lost between the East and West buildings, she lived in the former. Checking her watch as she walked out of the building, she realized she was already late for work. She glanced up from the ground only for a moment. In doing so she was reminded of the tragic events that had only happen two days prior. All that was left was yellow crime scene tape flying along with the wind. She continued walking with her final destination just outside around the corner.
Before leaving the parking garage, she stuck her hand outside checking for rain. It was still raining, so she grabbed the umbrella that now lived in her purse and began her walk up Magnolia Drive. Turning on to Maple Lane, Annabeth caught herself almost walking into the dentist office that was right next to her work, Medical Aid Doctors Office. It wasn't her fault, the two offices were spitting images of each other. For the first week she lived her, Annabeth walked into the dentist office instead of Medical Aid Doctors Office, which all the residents call MADO.
As soon as Annabeth entered the office, she was hit with a wave of deja vu from two days earlier, the time they brought in the body of Mr. Evans.
